The Plantin Press by Frank Irwin ( Hillside Press, Buffalo, N.Y., 1978. No. 268 of 325). Size: 2” x 2-3/8". Sellers’ Notes: “Bound in tan publisher's cloth with a black ink illustration of Plantin's press mark (hand emerging from cloud with compass) on the front cover; title on spine in black ink. 2 3/8" x 2"; 45 pages including a foreword by Irwin, and a short bibliography; Six illustrations by Joseph Pennell, one of the premiere book illustrators of his time (1857—1926)A nearly pristine copy, this fine Hillside Press publication explores the rich and enduring history of the Plantin press, which was in business in the same location in Antwerp for 300 years. It was purchased by the city of Antwerp and made into a museum in 1867.”

Seller's Notes: “Diminutive antique leather pocket notebook contains an itemized list, presumably by aunt Lottie, that begins with: "Notes on my Possessions" followed by seeming cherished items including her 'glass thimbles on my mantle piece' and things from her mother, etc. // One intriguing entry involves a 'green silk scarf' taken by her grandfather (a 'preventive man') from a 'smuggler'  '...a stain of blood is... [visible?]...on it—someone has the other half." It certainly adds of bit of mystery to this unique piece.”

Twenty Thousand Geographical Facts in M'PHUN'S Universal Gazetteer of the World. Gazetteers are indexes of geographical place names. And at 640 pages of very small type, there are a ton of them from around the world. "A compendious geographical dictionary of all the kingdoms, nations, cities, rivers, etc. The population of each town is accurately given from the government census."
