Soviet Space Pilots’ Portraits in book as part of a Keychain Souvenir dedicated to the launch of the world’s first Soviet Moon station (Luna-2 - Moon-2 in translation), which reached the surface of the moon September 14th 1959 and was the first human-made object to reach the surface of another space body, September 1959. On Sept. 14, 1959, the Luna 2 space probe crashed onto the surface of the moon. Though Luna 2 was shattered on impact, the mission was a major success, as it represented an important first in the history of space exploration. Size: 1” x 1”
