These are historic books, actually, from the 1920s when Little Leather Library Corporation successfully mass-marketed fine literature at a time when there was actually a "clamor for access to liberal culture" (what a different time that was in this country). Poetry and literature were distributed with chocolates, as gifts to soldiers serving overseas, as part of advertisements. World War I made leather scarce; thus, these books are 
bound in red leatherette.
